MERCY IS JUST MY NAME
“Mercy is Just My Name” is a classic revenge-fueled spaghetti western with a supernatural and steampunk twist, best described as “One-Eyed Jacks” meets “Shadow Over Innsmouth” meets “Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea.”
The Complete Graphic Novel
“Mercy” is now being hosted on Cauldron. Issues 1-4 are live now, 5-7 will be up in the coming weeks.

I found creating a graphic novel is a lot cheaper than making a movie, it just takes five-times as long.
It’s been a lot of fun doing this book and it has definitely helped me grow as an artist. It’s also been a crazy amount of work.
It’s given me a much greater appreciation for anyone that puts themselves out there to do anything creative and manages to finish it…
The big mashup
“Mercy is Just My Name” is a classic revenge-fueled spaghetti western graphic novel with a supernatural and steampunk twist, best described as “One-Eyed Jacks” meets “Shadow Over Innsmouth” meets “TwentyThousand Leagues Under the Sea.”
Back to the future
So, a very retro story inspired by my passion for the pulps, fantasy novels, history and radio drama. The art is also very retro but paradoxically produced in a 100% digital workflow using Clip Studio and Cinema 4D. The result is a colored, scratchboard, noir style (it’s always stormy skies and deep shadows in Sister Mercy’s world).
Constantly changing target
This started out as a motion book, switched to a static comic, morphed to a bi-weekly web comic, translated into a vertically scrolling phone-friendly online comic and finally this graphic novel.
Roads not taken
Readers of issues 1-2, will notice some changes to those books for the sake of continuity and to make the art more consistent the last 4 volumes. The art improved so much later on that I felt I had make some changes.
The original, planned, longer storyline also required compression and cutting for this graphic novel.
I’ve spent my entire life as a graphic artist but always for working for someone else. “Mercy” is the first, independent project of my own that I’ve been able to complete and get out there.
I hope you enjoy this adventure of Sister Mercy, her friends and enemies.
