What we know so far
In the world of Mercy Goode, the supernatural is real, and steam-powered technology is more advanced.
Sister Mercy Goode is an itinerant preacher who travels from town to town preaching the gospel, selling patent medicine, and performing trick shooting shows.
Her proper business is the hunting of demons.
She is a renowned shootist and vigilante, sometimes called Merciless Goode. Mercy is well educated with dual Divinity and Occult Studies degrees from Miskatonic University.
Sister Mercy is aided by her ward, a mysterious girl called Pet, her beau, Dr. Henry Armitage, a frontier physician of Miskatonic, Nat Love, a gunfighter, and Spirit Bears, sometimes called the Last Anastasi.
The three major villains are Professor James Cruor, Juliette Marsh of Innsmouth, and Madame Angelique Villion.
The overall plot concerns a missing copy of the Necronomicon from Miskatonic Library, why in this world, the Civil War continued until 1872, and how all these characters know each other.
It will end on the shores of the Sea of Cortez in a showdown of apocalyptic proportions.
In “Mousier Leveau’s House of Mirrors,” we see Mercy and Pet dealing with a carnival of a mad god and his degenerate worshippers.
In “The Bells at San Sabastian,” Mercy uses her detective skills to ferret out the demon stealing children in the border town of San Sabastian.
In “Aboard the U.S. Grant,” a meeting with her childhood friend Nat Love leads to an assignment aboard a haunted airship, during which Mercy discovers her enemy, Juliette Marsh, is still alive.
In “Dreams of Arkham” (not yet written), we see Mercy gravely wounded and in an extended delirium-fueled flashback to her early days at Miskatonic. Here were introduced to Henry Armitage, James Cruor, and Juliette Marsh.
In “Wolfshead,” we find out that Pet is a Were — werewolf and meet Spirit Bears and Angelique Villion. The story is mostly a flashback to Pet’s childhood in Wolfshead and how she came to ride with Sister Mercy.
“Midnight at McCarty’s Trading Post” sees Mercy and Pet snared in an elaborate trap by their enemies.
In “Showdown at Cortez” (a novella not yet written), we discover James Cruors apocalyptic plans while pretending to rebuild the Confederacy on the shores of the Sea of Cortez in Mexico.
